Our Mission
The mission of Notre Dame High School is to educate its students in mind, body and soul with the love of Jesus, the discipline of Joseph and the faith of Mary.
At Notre Dame High School, we believe in forming the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Nestled in the heart of a rural community, we are a small Catholic high school with a big mission: to inspire students to lead lives rooted in faith, scholarship, and service. As the only Catholic high school in Acadia Parish, we bring together students from across our surrounding communities.
For generations, the Pioneer spirit has guided our path. Grounded in deep Catholic values and a tradition of academic excellence, we empower students to think critically, act compassionately, and grow in their relationship with Christ. Whether in the classroom, through athletic competition, or through service and outreach, our students are encouraged to discover their potential and embrace their unique callings.
As a college preparatory school, we offer a robust academic program that includes a wide range of electives, honors courses, and dual enrollment opportunities—ensuring that students are challenged, inspired, and well-prepared for success in college and beyond.
Our close-knit school community fosters a strong sense of belonging, where every student is known, supported, and challenged to become their best self. At Notre Dame, we don’t just prepare students for college—we prepare them for life.
Our Crest
Notre Dame’s shield is rich in meaning, symbolizing the three principal Catholic ethnic groups who originally settled Acadia Parish:

- The Heraldic Eagle represents the German settlers, displayed with wings and outstretched legs.
- The Cedar Tree of Lebanon honors the Syrian heritage of the community.
- The Fleur-de-Lis, a symbol long associated with French royalty and Catholic tradition, represents the French settlers.
At the base of the shield lies the Christian Cross above the Greek letter Chi (Χ), the first letter in Χριστός (Christos), the Greek word for Christ. The crest of the shield bears the torch of education, reflecting the school’s commitment to academic excellence rooted in faith.
Our Patroness
The name "Notre Dame" means "Our Lady", one of the most beloved and revered titles for the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus. As the Patroness of our school, Mary stands at the spiritual heart of Notre Dame. Her statue, located in the center of our campus, serves as a constant reminder of our Catholic identity and the sacred mission of our school.
Accreditation
Notre Dame is accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Louisiana State Board of Education, and it is a diocesan school under the direction of the Bishop and the Board of Education of the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette. The school undergoes periodic professional self-study under the direction of the Diocesan School Board’s professional staff and the SACS accreditation team.
